Uncle Joe's Pizzeria

How could I resist? This picture didn't turn out so well, but the restaurant is called "Uncle Joe's Pizzeria" and was taken in downtown Anchorage.

Alaskan river crossing

These pictures are of my friend and I in Alaska pulling ourselves across a gorge, about 70 feet in the air, in a hand-pulled tram. I was a little nervous when the tram started swaying from side to side!

Alaska

Hey everybody. Here is a picture from my trip to Alaska last summer. I'm standing next to a glacier. My friend and I hiked to it around 10:00 PM, but, as you can see, it was still sunny outside.

Opossum in the cat dish...Say What?

Hey all, While sitting around the kitchen table at the Farm this week-end there was alot of talk about Farm Animals,Beer in the Basement and other Farm Lore. This turned into a discussion of Grandpa Bob and his ability to shoot critters who came up to the cat dish at nite. He was GOOD!! As the years went on and his eyesight deteriorated[got worse],Mom hid the bullets..This led him to get good and quiet with a baseball bat. Anyway while I was trucking around the country I got thinking about this and came up with this little song, poem or whatever you want to call it. Joe,Terry and Margaret thought I should post this,Hope you like!

Friday evening , supper time, Dad was at the plate
Mom was at that kitchen stove, wondering what that old man just ate
All at once she heard a noise, and looked into the dark
Dad turned around and said "what's that? Was that that old dogs bark"
Mom looked again into the night and much to her surprise
She saw the shadow of a creature, right before her eyes

She said "there's a opossum in the cat dish Bob, better get your bat
Put on your old rubber boots and slip on your seed corn cap
Down the steps and thru the porch and quietly out the door
That oppossum's gonna see stars, like it never seen before

Dad raised that bat up, brought it down, across that furry head
He poked it once,he poked it twice, just to make sure it was dead
He laid the bat down beside the house, slowly walked back in
He said I'll take a nap but when I get up,I'll probably eat again

He made his way to the living room, settled in his chair
Kicked it back,he smiled and thought how glad he was that Mom was there
She had that knack of knowing that dog's bark or the cattle call
All those nights waiting up for Margaret,God knows she seen it all

She'd say there's a opossum in the cat dish Bob, better grab your bat
Put on your old rubber boots and slip on your seed corn cap
Down the steps and thru the porch and quietly out the door
That opossum's gonna see stars ,like he's never seen before!!
